Dear subscribers,

The ExtremeXP project has made significant strides in recent months, and we're excited to share some of the latest updates with you.

๐ŸŒ We are thrilled to announce that ExtremeXP showcased its research at the 50th International Conference on Very Large Databases (VLDB 2024) in Guangzhou, China. Stavros Maroulis presented our work on โ€œVisualization-aware Time Series Min-Max Caching with Error Bound Guarantees,โ€ co-authored by Vassilis Stamatopoulos, George Papastefanatos, and Manolis Terrovitis. This innovative caching mechanism enhances real-time data exploration for time series data, exemplifying ExtremeXPโ€™s commitment to advancing extreme data analytics. Exciting developments are on the horizon!

๐ŸŒ We are excited to announce that ExtremeXP made a strong impact at the 5th IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organising Systems (ACSOS 2024) in Aarhus, Denmark. Researchers from VU Amsterdam and Charles University presented a poster/demo and also a paper showcasing our experimentation engine and DSL editor, key components of our work packages. Team members engaged with attendees, highlighting how these innovations optimize data management and automate decision-making processes. A demonstration video accompanied the presentation, providing insights into the practical features of our tools.

๐ŸŒ We are delighted to announce that ExtremeXP presented our paper โ€œAn Analysis of MLOps Architectures: A Systematic Mapping Studyโ€ at ECSA 2024. Co-authored by Justus Bogner, Ilias Gerostathopoulos, Patricia Lago, and Faezeh Amou Najafabadi, this work delves into 35 essential architectural components of MLOps, highlighting the tools and technologies driving this evolving field. Our participation sparked insightful discussions with researchers and practitioners, and we were honored to receive an honorable mention in the Research Papers track.

๐ŸŒ To finish on a high note, ExtremeXP will be making a prominent appearance at the European Big Data Value Forum 2024 (EBDVF24). This prestigious event, which runs from 2-4 October, is a major gathering for key players in the big data and AI industries. On our stand, we'll be showcasing our ground-breaking innovations, engaging with industry leaders and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate the real impact of ExtremeXP and connect with other pioneers in the field !

Yasmine Boulfani earned her engineering degree in electronics from the Polytechnic School of Algiers in 2004, followed by a Master's degree and a Ph.D. in Image Processing from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (France) in 2005 and 2010, respectively. From 2011 to 2023, she held the position of Research Engineer at the I3S (Informatique, Signaux et Systรจmes de Sophia Antipolis) laboratory, where she managed various R&D projects in collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

In December 2017, she joined CS GROUP France, a Sopra Steria Company, and she currently works as a Program Manager in the Space Business Unit. The projects she oversees are part of extensive European consortia with the goal of establishing digital and secure platforms for deploying Earth Observation (EO) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based services on various Cloud and DIAS (Data and Information Access Services) providers. Herextensive experience includes project team management, project coordination, and communication with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, partners, contractors, sub-contractors, engineering teams, and legal and financial departments.

As part of the ExtremeXP project, Yasmine is in charge of project management for CS GROUP, which is involved in developing the use case called "Improvement of Flash Flood Forecasting through the Use of AI". Additionally, she actively contributes to the communication and dissemination aspects of the project through various conferences,
workshops, and social media channels, as well as in establishing the project's business plan.

THE INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SYSTEMS

The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit research institute established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education of Greece and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA to promote research and development activities in all aspects of computer and telecommunications systems and their applications. The Information Management Unit (IMU) โ€“ a research unit of ICCS โ€“ will take part in the ExtremeXP project. Research in IMU addresses the whole lifecycle from data analysis to computation (cloud and fog) and decision making. ICCS will research and develop traceability and trustworthiness aspects for experiment-driven analytics focusing on a Non-Fungible Token (NFT)-based dataset provenance mechanism. Furthermore, it will lead the work on context-aware access control and on the overall secure management of decentralized data and knowledge in ExtremeXP.
